About the app
Back Tees Live is a golf app for iPhone and Android. It tracks your scores and rounds, maintains your handicap, organises events, and keeps everyone in the group on the same card.
You can play a casual Quick Game with friends in a couple of taps, run a full event with pairings, tee times and a live leaderboard, or join a club and play in its competitions. Gross and net are worked out for you — including handicap strokes allocated against the tee each player is actually playing — with skins and closest-to-pin running alongside the main game. Finished rounds are saved to your history.

Getting started
Creating an account
Open the app and sign up with your email address and a password. You'll then set up your golfer profile. An account is required to save scores, keep a handicap, and join clubs or events.
I forgot my password
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and enter the email address on your account. We'll email you a reset link. If it doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder — and make sure you're using the same address you signed up with.
I'm not receiving the reset email
Password reset emails come from our authentication provider and can occasionally be filtered. Check spam and promotions folders first. If it still hasn't arrived, email us at support@backteeslive.com from the address on your account and we'll help you regain access.
What is an alias and why do I need one?
Your alias is how other golfers find you and send friend requests. We never use your name, email address or phone number for discovery, so pick something you're happy to share.
Why do you ask for my date of birth?
It confirms you're old enough to play and helps keep younger players safe. Your birth date is private and is never shown to other players.
Joining a club
Clubs can share a club code. In the app, go to your profile and choose Enter Club Code, then type the code your club gave you. Depending on the club's settings you'll either join immediately or your request will go to the club's admin for approval.
Scores and handicap
Scores you post in a round or event feed into your handicap automatically. If a score looks wrong, open the round and correct it — the handicap recalculates. If a score posted by someone else is wrong, contact the organizer running that event.
Subscriptions and billing
Back Tees Live is free to use for casual play. Paid plans add event and club management:

Subscriptions are purchased inside the iPhone or Android app, through your Apple Account or Google Play account. There is no checkout on this website. Payment is charged to your store account at confirmation of purchase, and subscriptions renew automatically each month unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Managing or cancelling your subscription
Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google, not by us — so cancelling is done in your device's store settings:
iPhone / iPad
- Open Settings
- Tap your name at the top
- Tap Subscriptions
- Select Back Tees Live, then cancel or change your plan
Android
- Open the Google Play Store
- Tap your profile icon
- Tap Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions
- Select Back Tees Live, then cancel or change your plan
When you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for. After that your account returns to the free Quick Games plan. Your clubs, events, members and scores are preserved — nothing is deleted when a subscription ends.
Restoring a purchase
If you've reinstalled the app or switched to a new device and your plan isn't showing, open Plan & Billing in the app and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account or Google account you used to buy the subscription.
My payment went through but my plan didn't unlock
Access is confirmed by our server shortly after the store confirms payment, so it can occasionally take a minute. Try Restore Purchases in Plan & Billing first. If it still hasn't appeared, email us at support@backteeslive.com with the email address on your account and we'll sort it out.
Refunds
Purchases are processed by Apple and Google, so refunds are handled by them and not by us. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com (Apple) or through Google Play. If you were charged in error, contact us as well and we'll help.
Your account and data
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and its data at any time, from inside the app:
- Open Back Tees Live and go to Home
- Tap the settings (gear) icon
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account
- Confirm when prompted
This permanently removes your account and personal information. It cannot be undone.
If you can't access the app — for example you've lost your device or can't sign in — email support@backteeslive.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We'll verify the request and delete or anonymize your personal information, except where we're required by law to retain it.
Note: cancelling a subscription does not delete your account, and deleting your account does not automatically cancel a subscription — cancel that separately in your Apple or Google account settings.
Requesting a copy of your data
Email support@backteeslive.com from the address on your account and we'll help you get a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Privacy
What we collect and how we use it is set out in full in our Privacy Policy. In short: we do not sell or share your personal information or mobile number for marketing.
Safety and reporting
Back Tees Live lets golfers play together, so you'll see other players' names, scores and profiles. We don't tolerate abusive or offensive behaviour.
Blocking or reporting a player
- Find the player in a club member list, your friends list, or an event leaderboard
- Touch and hold their name to open the player options
- Choose Block to stop interacting with them, or Report to flag them to us
Blocking takes effect immediately. Reports come straight to our moderation queue — we review every report, and we act on abusive content and accounts. You can also report anything directly to support@backteeslive.com.
Reporting a safety concern urgently
If you believe someone is at risk of harm, contact your local emergency services first. Then email us at support@backteeslive.com with "URGENT" in the subject line so we can prioritise it.
Games & events
Setting up a round, scoring it, and reading the result.
What's the difference between a Quick Game and an Event?
A Quick Game is a casual round for a group — pick a course, a format and some players. An Event is a full competition with registration, pairings, tee times or a shotgun start, and published results.
How do I invite someone who doesn't have the app?
From the Add Players screen or an event's invite tab, choose to text a contact. Your phone's own Messages app opens with a download link and a code. Once they've installed the app and signed up, they enter that code to join.
Which formats can I play?
Events support Stroke Play, Stableford, Quota, Match Play brackets, Team Formats (Best Ball, Scramble, Alternate Shot) and SWAT team Nassau. Quick Games add 9's and Two Man Team. Skins and closest-to-pin run as side games alongside the main game.
Who can enter scores?
Players in the event can enter scores for their own playing group. Organizers can correct scores for anyone in the field.
A score is wrong. Can it be fixed?
Yes. An event organizer can correct any score in the field, and the leaderboard recalculates immediately.
Club administrators
Running members, events and results.
How do members join my club?
Share your club code. Depending on your settings, entering it either grants membership immediately or creates a request for an admin to approve.
Can I turn a club code off?
Yes. A code can be deactivated or regenerated at any time from club settings, which immediately stops the old one working.
What roles are there?
Owners have full control. Admins manage members and events. Event organizers can create and run events without full admin rights.
How do I run a shotgun start?
Choose a shotgun start when you set up the round, then assign starting holes across the field. Each player sees their starting hole in the app.
Can I re-pair between rounds of a multi-day event?
Yes. Pairings are built per round, so a multi-day event can re-pair each day — leaders last, leaders first, or keeping day-one groups.
